Ashtanga Yoga Book
Ashtanga Yoga is the definitive guide to the first 4 series, sequences, names and forms of the asanas in this mindful and meditative form of the practice. It is not a step-by-step guide, but rather an authoritative sourcebook of the asanas. These are demonstrated by seven of the leading teachers from the global community and captured in their precise form by Richard Pilnick, one of the world’s leading yoga photographers, whose passion for the subject originated in his own spiritual journey.
The book curates over 150 inspirational images, all photographed using a large-format camera and black-and-white film. With each photograph accompanied simply by the name of the asana, in Sanskrit Devanagari Transliteration, the book is both an unprecedented visual reference and an inspirational companion for its many thousands of teachers and practitioners. Each chapter is introduced by an accompanying poem by German face reader, Eric Standop, and a portrait of the internationally respected teacher demonstrating the postures and the fluid movements and breaths that connect them.
